What Is Body Doubling?
Body doubling is a simple but powerful technique that helps you stay focused, start tasks, and follow through, just by having someone else present while you work.
It’s not about being told what to do or having someone micromanage you. Instead, it’s about supportive presence.
Having another person nearby, even virtually, can reduce the overwhelm of getting started.
I can help you stay grounded in the present moment and offer gentle accountability as you move through your to-do list.
Why Does It Work?
Body doubling taps into how our brains respond to connection, co-regulation, and structure, especially for those of us with ADHD, autism, or executive function challenges.
Here’s how it helps:
- Reduces mental clutter – When you’re not alone, it’s easier to get out of your head and into action.
- Breaks isolation – Many neurodivergent folks freeze or shut down when alone. A body double gently anchors you back into motion.
- Provides nervous system safety – A calm, nonjudgmental presence can regulate your stress response and make starting less daunting.
- Offers subtle accountability – Knowing someone else is there and aware of your goals makes you more likely to follow through, without shame or pressure.
- Boosts task initiation and transitions – Tasks feel more doable when you’re not facing them alone.
What a Session Looks Like
Every session is tailored to your needs. We’ll begin with a short check-in to set your intentions, then move into focused work.
You might work quietly while I hold space, or we can use short. timed intervals (like the Pomodoro method) with gentle breaks in between.
Whether you need to tackle chores, emails, or simply start something, I’ll be there…calm, steady, and supportive.
Included free with all coaching packages.
